Anyone here remember the old battles between Spider Monkey and Dan O'Connell?
It was back in 2004 when we first started out. We each had about 200ppd which was all we could muster with our few machines. Spidey and I had numerous overtakes and such over a few months.
Then one day I built my Linux box with a 1.3Ghz Duron. I picked up about 180ppd if I was given a healthy supply of 1300's (1300's were King back in the day.

). I passed that monkey like he was standing still.
Things were going good for me. I had 3 machines each doing 1300's and totaling over 500ppd, which gave me a spot on the Top 20 Producers List on EOC for a few months.

I checked back with Spidey time to time, he was still putzing around at about 200ppd.
Around that winter I replaced the 1.3Ghz Duron with a 2400+ XP. It was the most I could do given the fact I was living in my parents home, and the FSB on that mobo had a DDR333 Max. I picked up about another 30ppd, and then I sold the Duron to a fellow folder when the Swap & Sell forum came online.
Then about a week after I sold it I got a PM from the guy I sold it to. He had just got a job at Halliburton, and was flying to Iraq to start work in two weeks. He said that he gave the Duron to another folder, I asked who, and he replied "Spider Monkey".
It wasn't too long after that that Spidey started recruiting. He wasn't much of a threat to me though, as I had already teamed up with Kybo Ren, who at the time had just a little over my producution (about 500ppd). So, I was around 800-1200ppd on a given day.
Months passed, and Kybo had his PC priveledges taken away. I was lucky enough to have Gramaton join me in my quest for the top ranks of the team. Unfortunatley, Gramaton's "farm" wasn't usually running very much while he was at college, but he still produced a little more than my 2-1/2 machines running 24/7.
I don't know how it happened, or when it happened, but sometime when I wasn't looking Spidey gained a few friends. He overtook me and Gram sometime early this year, something which I swore I would never allow.
Someday Spidey, someday when you least expect it, Dan O'Connell and friends are going to run you over like a fat and lazy squirell who's too busy counting his nuts to see the Mack Truck barreling in at 80 MPH.
