Has anyone installed XP Pro (over Home) on a netbook? Specs around N270 (1.6Ghz) and 1GB RAM. How was the experience?

What features are you needing in Pro that Home doesn't provide?

You use this netbook on a domain?

It'll be a company one for trips to shows, but my boss wants the flexibility of domain access when it's in the office.

Posting from my netbook atm actually.

I have an asus 900ha with ubuntu (wifey's), and this is an hp mini 110 (1366x768 res). Problem with xp - and even ubuntu at times - is low res screens prevent guis from displaying properly - like the display properties - then again, you're already on home. I upgraded mines to pro as well, since I had spare discs and I prefer typing my msc's directly. If i can, I use remote desktop over vnc, and I just can't stand the limited file access control home offers.

Note - BOTH machines are running with 2GB ram.
I AM running ubuntu with compiz, and perhaps this is the cause of it, but my xp pro sporting mini does feel faster. Ubuntu will sometimes pause on webpages more often and longer than My mini - both with firefox - though I've noted chrome is MUCH faster in javascript heavy pages.

Overall, I like it. Replaces my old broken laptop - which was fairly powerful - dual core turion 1.6 with ati 1150 NB for graphics. Since I never really took advantage of that power ('cept for the occasional vmware machine) The only thing missing is extra heat on my nads.

BTW - if you already have home on the laptop, pro wont differ much in experience, only in ability.
