We're rolling out some design changes to the site and forums later today. Forums are largely unaffected, but the main site is getting a pretty big design refresh today. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up!

///Will

PS Anyone who didn't like the orange will probably like the new design tweaks.

looks nice, but I've been using stylish for a year now so I'm just gonna stick to my usual color scheme. nice not having that orange block on the main page though

I didn't even notice the Prince of Persia background at first. I have the browser sized a little more than half way across my old 19" crt. It the background ad related or decorative?

We're really big fans of the new Prince of Persia at Maximum PC.

(It's an ad, not sure how long it's supposed to run. They don't tell me that sort of thing.)

Noes!! Still no widescreen support. But good job anyway. I like the black better than that orange. And red is a lot better than orange for the forums. Does anyone remember what it looked like before the orange? I can't remember.

WS support would be a neat addition. my eye sight is getting worse every year, so hopefully making WS support will stretch out the font size, in addition to ctrl+scroll wheel it on frequent visits.

Liking the color scheme atm.

Very few sites actually run not-fixed width, and our site metrics show that most people browse in a windows smaller than 1280px wide, and many even still use 1024 px wide windows. For that reason, most sites stick to a 1024px-ish fixed-width design. If we make the design wider, it's just going to make the content columns, which are designed for a fixed width, look janky.

What you can do, especially if you're running FF3, Chrome, or (I think) Safari or Opera, is hold down ctrl while you scroll your mouse wheel. That will zoom the entire site (images and all) so you can see it bigger on your widescreen panel. Does that help?

I like it. Cleaner and crisper. If not finger-licking good. :D

Will, can you turn down the red a bit?

Maybe make it a lighter color red?

It's very....blinding.

I'm going to jump in with Hack and say the same thing here. Although the brightness of the red may be due to my monitors color settings as well.I may have to play around with my LCD a bit and see if I can't fix it that way.

It looks pretty good on monitors that are calibrated properly with correct gamma. When I came home to the monitor that I cranked the brightness up so I can see better in dark multiplayer games, it looks a little janky.
