Hey guys i was wondering if anyone knew of a free defragging utility for Mac OS 10.4 my G3 has been getting really slow (i know it only runs at 450MHz and that is slow but it has been getting worse lately.) lately and i was wondering if anyone could help me out. It would be much appreciated. =)

OS X automatically defrags all files under a certain size (I believe 20MB) in the backround.

If you're still looking for one, check out iDefrag

I'd recommend looking up HFS+, which is the filesystem used in OSX. OSX does some neat tricks like prebinding and other things to speed up the OS.

If you want to speed up OSX try this link:

Prebinding isn't automatic anymore, but there are ways to invoke it manually, I'd check that out as well.

Enjoy,
Brodey
