Does anyone know of some good, comprehensive reference books about hardware? An encyclopedia of sorts? Any input is appreciated.

With how fast computer hardware changes, the best you'll find won't include the latest tech that we've been hearing about for a while now (Like Core i7).

Scott Mueller has the best actual books concerning hardware though.

Yeah I figured it would be nearly impossible to find something up to date in print. Thanks for the info TLG.

Computer hardware does change frequently, but the basics are all the same (in most cases).

Pick up a good book as TLG mentioned and start reading it.

Once you have an understanding of what is in a computer and what each part does, you should be able to migrate all that knowledge to the newer set of processors/motherboards/etc.

This is pretty close to a hardware bible, but if they haven't done a third edition it might be a bit dated. In anycase, it's a good read.
