hello all, i have been trying to fix a problem, been all over the net looking for a fix.

system mythdora slave backend/frontend
chaintech 7nil1 mb
amd athlon 3200+ (barton core (2500 oc to 2200mhz)
ati tv wonder 200
ati rage pro (pci has needed composite out)
512 ram,80g hd,mceusb remote,linksys g wireless card
this all works great sees backend fine, remote works, plays recordings, dvds, other videos, music ....
tv is at 800*600

enough background, the problem is the sound -nForce2 based cm9738 chip snd-intel8x0 module using ac97_codec

the video capture card doesn't encode it just streams video, cpu encodes, also the sound is not in stream, a cable from video capture card goes to sound cards line in which is captured and mixed when encoded. and there is the problem. sound out is good for playback of any sound, but the capture is tainted with high frequency ,for lack of better word, alaising, there is an high frequency noise from the capture circuit, especially noticed with voices. watching live tv using this system is unbearable, it also records it that way. the other video capture card hardware encodes the video and audio stream on the card and plays back fine on both systems.
base fedora 10 using alsa sound componets. research says to limit the capture rate to 48000, but never give a way to do that. justed needed on the capture not on whole system, because 48000 good for dvds but 44000 better for cd/mp3. the alsa sound system set itself up at boot using a script, no hard coded /etc/asound.conf. i don't want to recreate the whole asound.conf in a script i just want to limit the capture freq.

can anybody help?
