As some of you may know I'm currently a Junior at Missouri State University.

Next semester I will start getting into the tougher business related classes. This Fall they decided to modify my degree program slightly and discontinue one of the classes I was supposed to take in the Spring of 2010.

They replaced it with a class named: Information Systems Analysis and Design. Let me preface this with, I am not a programmer. I took Java in my freshman year of college, but haven't used it at all since then. The course description is the following:

Quote:
A study of the analysis and design of computer information systems. Course includes developing a study project using CASE tools.

From Googling, it appears CASE tools are Computer Aided Software Engineering tools. Does anyone have an idea of how difficult this class may be since I have been out of programming for 2 years without even looking back?

It's been a long time since I did a CASE class, but my recollection is that it was not too terribly difficult. Essentially it's learning a new methodology/application language to draw out your application designs. You don't need to be a programmer to do it (I don't recall any coding, just drawing out the designs according to the prof's specs, and they compare to what they have developed already). It probably helps to understand programming concepts though. Your mileage may vary (again, my class was more than a decade ago). Side note, until recently, I've never actually used a CASE app for any project.

Sounds like an IT spin on AutoCAD 101.

It's so vague it could be Autocad, or it could be PHPAdmin and MySQL, or it could be...

I took a class just like that a few semesters ago at my college. It mainly had to deal with system development life cycles (SDLC), basic (very basic) programming logic and i think we maybe did a basic database and some querries. We looked at different uses for CASE tools and how they help the SDLC.
