The fan on my 7900GS has a strange behavior: every 20 something seconds its will very briefly pause and then go back to its usual speed (30% I think).

I tried using nvclock to change the fan speed, but it doesn't stay. The fan will still do the pause and then it goes back to 30%.

How do I get it to spin constantly?

Im on Ubuntu 9.04 btw.

Aww nvm I found the problem. I was accidently running a script similar to:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=828369

Apparently the 7900GS has two performance levels where the only difference is how fast the fan spins. Go figure.
