I was curious to find out what the difference between an Information Systems curriculum and Computer Science curriculum. I was told that Computer Science deals more with programming. Is this true?

Both are general majors in the computing field.

Computer Science deals more with the science aspect (hence the word science after computer) in terms of programming. You would need to be good at math, physics, etc in order to be a good candidate for this major.

Information Systems deals more with the business aspect of computers. Most colleges will combine this with a lot of business classes. In other words, expect a large amount of business classes. There won't be so much math or programming in this major.

Other than that, can't tell you much more with a vague question.

Computer Science, as opposed to Information Systems, takes much more of a theoretical and mathematical approach to computers. You don't just learn how to program, but how programming actually works. There will be much more mathematics is CS than IS. This is what scares most people away from CS, but I believe that a strong background in mathematics is necessary for a skilled programmer.
