I just took the test and bombed the networking section. I also don't have the Network+ cert that is recommended. What would you all recommend for me to do to prepare for the network section were I can ace it this next time. I was thinking about getting the network+ cert kit and going through all the books.

A network + cert kit would be pretty beneficial if you ask me.

This is the book I used while in an Information Technology class during high school. I haven't taken the Network + exam yet, but I have taken a "practice" exam that simulated what the actual exam would have been like. Had I focused a little more I'm sure I would have passed.

And since you've done a test and got to look at some networking questions, you should know at least some of the stuff to look at.

So I'm guessing the 70-270 has a lot of Networking questions? Good to know. I was planning on taking this exam, along with my CCNA.

While I haven't taken the Network+ exam, I have studied for it extensively in the past. My greatest source of learning was a combination of my home network (at least 2 PCs and a router), and the Exam Cram 2 Network+ Study Guide. It's a good book. You can easily read and understand the book in about 2 weeks.

If you really wanna go balls-to-the-wall for learning Networking, I suggest the Sybex CCNA Study guide by Todd Lammle. I'm reading it currently and it's blowing my mind with how good it is. Very easy to read, not dry at all like many tech books, and very informative. If you can read that book and understand it all, I'd bet you'd pass the Network+ exam.

Net+ really helps alot with 70-270. You need a fundamental understanding of the OSI Model, as well as the different network protocols and hardware for this exam. Net+ can provide this, atleast it did for me :D
