Alright so I decided to oc my bfg 6800 gt. Using coolbits 2 I got up to 405 mhz core and 1140 mhz mem. Hopeful this link will work For some reason I cant get the core or mem to oc further than that. I even tried taking off the side of the case and puting an industrial fan next to the comp. That lowered the temps by 10C but I still couldn't bump the mem or the core clock up. What am I doing wrong!!! This was my first oc and damn does it feel good :)

You might not be doing anything wrong. Some cards just OC better than others. There's a reason it doesn't have an Ultra tag on it.

Doesn't sound like you're doing anything wrong.

Some silicon can overclock very high, and some can't.

Alright. So even if I hook up a water cooling kit to it would I be able to overclock it any higher or is that its limit? Do you think if I used Rivatuner I could get better results? I guess I shouldn't be complaining cause at least I got it up to ultra speeds. Thanks for your help.

I don't think the cost of a water cooling kit justifies the extra 10 or 12Mhz you may get with it.

word to that.... considering a 6800 ultra is the fastest card on the market i dont think its worth going further.

That is true. I was just wondering if its possible to up the clocks any further or if its pretty much locked at what it is now.

I dont think its right that all cards of the same type aren't created equal...

That's the way the world works.

The company you get your 6600/6800 from will test it out at it's stock speed and that's what they sell it as. Different batches and yields of sillicon chips are not all the same. But it'll always work at the stock speed it was sold at, and if not, you RMA that POS.
