I bought an epox 8rda+ in february of 2002. It came dead twice and I had to rma it twice before I got a working board. Now flash forward to now and I am having slight stability problems and my athlon xp which had 256K of L2 cache now has 64K...

Well low and behold that now that the warranty is out in march and after that I open up my case to dust and notice 3 bulging caps on my motherboard. So now after a shitty experience with the board in the beginning it is going to go all the way to the end being a piece of shit. So now I can either have its caps replaced for $14 shipping x2 for each way or for $60 get a whole new board from another company.

Screw you epox! You are the worst company ever and hope someone gets a class action suite against you because I was looking around and seems epox has had tons and tons of bad caps on motherboards and forcing users to pay for something they should have to pay for.

Bleh, Shuttle is worse.

I've gotten the same board dead three times.

I finally just went out and god a KS75A and it's a cheap-ass decently stable board.

Caps are the metal cylinders that are all over the motherboard that help stabilize voltages on the motherboard...

WOW I am surprised this happened to you. I had a Epox board and I never had any issues like that besides with its pickyness with memory.

But when I did get it to work, it worked fine for a good while.

Well save up 80 bux or something and get the kick ass mobo Abit NF7-S. Ever since I switched it has been smooth sailing. I just miss the extra USB ports that were on the Epox.

Gotcha. Glad you clarified, as I couldn't believe you wouldn't know what they were :)

Mine died last week after 2 years of service. I noticed swollen caps.

I ordered an Abit NF-7S from newegg. Newegg shipped it friday, now it has sat three days at fedex in the Twin cities, 150 miles from where I live.

Fedex has done this before so I might add them to the dog pound.

Hey alex tons of boards were sent out with those GRC/Teapo caps that were defective...email Epox support and they will send you an rma for that 8rda. I just got one for my 8rda...you just have to pay for shipping to them. They fixed my 8k7a's that had bad caps also but i had to pay for shipping both ways which was like 20 buck for my two 8k7a's. I understand your mad but dont toss the board away get it fixed or send it to me ;) Should epox have tossed out the caps yes...but they owned to many of them...a crapy cost benifit anaylsis with the only way to make a profit using the caps they already purchased. If you see me around IM me.
