My sons pc has somehow had something called Intelligent Desktop installed on it. It comes up just before the desktop icons appear on the desktop. It seems to be a web browser of some sort and I can not get rid of it. I have gone to Intelligentdesktop.com and tried to run the unintstall program with no success. I am running xp on a compaq machine.

Can anyone give me an idea of how to get this thing off the pc?

Thanks

Dave

What I would do,some may dissagree is tear it down from a basic standpoint.

(set a restore point)
1. CTRL+Shift+Esc
2. Processes tab, look for the executable and take it's name.
3. search the hard drive, for the .exe file (ctrl+C copy the .exe name to use in regedit later)
4. Once the exe is found, delete the folder that it is stored in houses the program
5. open regedit, (~start Run regedit ok~).
6. f3, "exe_name.exe"
7. delete all references to it.

Seems you have exhausted al other means already, let me know how it works out.

also if you are using winxp, when you get into windows try going into start -> run -> and type "msconfig" without the "". when the gray box appears click on startup and see if the program is listed and then uncheck it. like the last post said i would also try a good spyware remover like adware and spybot.

check start>programs>startup...see if anything is in there

start>run>type "msconfig">startup tab...see if it is in there....if so, uncheck the box

start>run>type "msconfig">services tab (check the box to hide MS services)...see if it is in there..if so, uncheck the box

those wont uninstall it, but it will keep it from starting up with your computer

start>settings>control panel> add/remove programs...see if it is in there
