I thought this would be a no-brainer, especially since I've been working with computers for nearly 6 years straight now.

Shortly after I bought a new cell phone, I bought a 4Gb MicroSD card to go with it. It came with a MicroSD to SD adapter. I plugged it into my girlfriends computer and it wouldn't recognize it. It gave a I/O error, seemed to freeze for a second, and then the system returned to it's normal state. I tried rebooting, but the computer took nearly 10 minutes to reboot, only to freeze right before the Windows XP login screen.

I thought it was just my lady's computer acting up. So I found a MicroSD to USB adapter in my box-O-computer stuff, and used that to try it on my machine. I got the same error from my PC and I know my rig doesn't have any problems. The weird thing is, I know the card is fine because I can load a program on the card using my phone's USB sync cable, but I can't actually load any files, PDFs or MP3s... and it's starting to piss me off.

Can anyone help me figure this issue out? Thank you for your time.

-Andrew

What is the card formatted in...fat32, fat16...Ntfs? If the phone uses Linux then it is probably ext3 and windows can't read that.

You know what? when you mentioned formatting the card, I remember I let the phone format the card. Anyone know what format Palm uses? It's a Palm Centro.

Found the format type:

3GPP2 format

Try to format it in fat32 or ntfs then see if it works with the phone and pc.

I don't know if it will make the memory unusable with the phone or not.

4GB is a problematic size for SD cards.
