My, my. Look at that. What's that in my mailbox today? A notice for my free upgrade from 768kbps to 3.0Mbps for the remainder of my Verizon DSL contract! Presently I'm in month 7 of a 24 month deal for $19.99 a month.

Dog Pound for Verizon DSL? No way! I'll invite 'em to dinner!

Wow that is awesome, I am waiting for FIOS to become available in my area. It was supposed to be here last year but for now I have to stick with Cablevision which is really pretty good.

Wow good for you! I had Sprint DSL for 2 years from 2005-2007, then they switched to embarq, and I've had them since. For 3 (almost 4) years, I've been on the bottom rung that they offer... I thought there was a repeating customer discount? This is what kills me though. I pay 50 bucks a month for 256kbps. My friend just got embarq's 3mbps service for 30/month! I'm waiting for Verizon's FIOS to be availible in my town.

I do need to clarify something after re-reading my saved net pages.

My Verizon contract for DSL at $19.99 a month was for a minimum of two years, and automatically renewed at that rate. It was advertised as "$19.99 a month for life for as long as Verizon offers DSL service" back when I signed up for it in February 2008. 8)

I used them for 6 years. After the first 2 years I either got a reduction in price every year or a bump in speed for the same price every year. When I finally moved/changed ISP's I was 6mbps/786kbps from $42 a month.

YMMV.
