I'm currently use XP Pro, with Zone Alarm. Can I run XPs built-in firewall for added protection, or will that just screw things up? Thanks! -Mac

You shouldnt run 2 firewalls at the same time (not 2 software firewalls on the same machine anyway), you can run into some issues.

I'd stick with ZA as well...I think the XP firewall leaves a little to be desired, but it may turn out well.

Sounds like you're all set in this thread, so I'll just reiterate, stay with ZA....

The same concept holds true for antivirus software as well, running more than one at a time will likely prove counterproductive....

The same is not true for spyware scanning software...

...in case you were wondering 8)

Edit:
Typo

Thanks alot for the info. For future reference, is it ok to run a software firewall along with a hardware one? Thanks again. -Mac

Yes. Depending on the level of security you need, you'll find a lot of users running a broadband router with built-in firewall and a software based firewall on each machine. It's a sufficient, effective, and cost friendly solution for multicomputer setups.

We can only hope. The current protection is only one-way:p
