Lets meet ravenhawk82...............
Where do you call home these days?
Northwest Oregon on the Columbia a little ways north of Portland. To be honest, most of the year, it's a boring little town, but there is a "festival" every summer that involves bands playing music every Thursday for the summer. That's pretty fun, and bands are often very good, but theres a bomber every now and then (if you ever hear of a band called the Gobel All Stars, go the other way).

It's pretty rainy around here the rest of the year, so not much can be done outside. This probably helped contribute to my love of computers. G asked if I have any pets, I have a lot.
What got you started folding?
I looked into the F@H forum on occasion, just to try and decipher what Folding was. It looked so insane and chaotic, I simply had to join. I started out with the POS graphical client because that one looked soft and cushy, as I have always preferred GUI programs to text-based, but when I topped out at a whopping 80PPD and saw similar rigs pulling thousands, I ditched that and went for the SMP. My current folding farm includes: 1 E6600 running the SMP 1 E6300 running the SMP 1 Pentium 4 2.6GHz running a console 1 Celeron D running a console 1 (currently down) Pentium D running 2 consoles
Where are you employed?
This was my first year of high school. I miss my Nutty Professor-esquire science teacher, but for the most part it's OK. I take fairly high-end classes and get OK grades, and I hope it stays that way.
What other hobbies or interests do you pursue when not folding?
NOT folding? My GOD, man, where ever did you think up such an evil thing!? I guess you could say "while I'm folding", but I mourn the days when all my rigs are down. WHILE I'm folding, I'm probably doing homework (anything from biology practicing my saxophone). If, on the off chance homework isn't present, I can probably be found zoning out in front of this screen or that, playing RTS's and watching TV. Finally, if my parents have been smart enough to kick me off these rotten boxes (don't worry my precious, I didn't mean that), I'll probably be out side riding my bike.
ravenhawk plays in a school band. Recently, on the way to a competition, the whole band, the teacher and some chaperones had a very scary trip, it even made the news Click Here
ravenhawk is enjoying a new hobby. He just got a Nikon D80 SLR and is learning all about it Click Here
How did you learn about computers?
I have always been interested in machines since my parents had a Mac OS6 that I used to play with when I was little. Every time a comp is replaced, I get it to refurbish it and make it better. For years I wanted to try and build one, and one day I got a phone call from my grandpa that he had gotten a bunch of new parts and wanted me to put them together. W00t! YES! Here are the specs of my first ever system:
Pentium D 2.66GHz (still use it in my media center!) Radeon X300SE ECS RC410L/800m Motherboard Maxtor 300GB hard drive Memorex 52x CD burner
Over time, I have changed every part except the hard drive, and now have a virtually new computer.
What hardware are you currently running?
E6600 @ 3.33GHz eVGA 680i motherboard eVGA 8800GTS Thermaltake Liquid Cooling Lite-on CD/DVD burner Maxtor 300GB HDD 2GB G.Skill DDR2-800 RAM @ 825MHz
Do you build your own computers today?
HECK YES! I've built 4 to date, and about 12 if you count re-builds
Do you overclock any machines?
Whenever I can. I can get a whole extra gigahertz out of my Pentium D on a 590i motherboard.
What are the main things you use your computers for today?
Gaming, folding, gaming, watching movies, gaming, and other stuff.
What Broadband provider do you use - are you happy with their service?
Quest DSL. I like it, because it goes as fast as I need and isn't too expensive. Speed can fluctuate from time to time, but thats understandable.
What do you like most about Folding and the MaximumPC forum?
It is totally insane and fits my personality. The ongoing war between the stewies and the monkeys is great, and what could be better than competitive sitting-watching-your-points-go-up? It's too great.
He mentioned the war between the stewies and the monkeys, which kind of dates this SpotLight. Ravenhawk82 started it for me a good while back, and here you see the end result (a bit more up to date.)
What are your future folding plans?
I hope to get as high as I possibly can. I also plan to add at least 1 quad core by next year.
ravenhawk82 thanks for doing a great SpotLight. You certainly get involved in lots of things and have some unusual adventures. Your writeup on the bus trip was well very done and I imagine a little scary to live through. Looking forward to lots of pictures from that new camera of yours. Spread the gospel according to V.J. and see if more band members would like to fold.
He will be joining the Million Club in the not to distant future. Get started on your SpotLight and join him - PM me for details.
