I won't be awake long enough to watch you cross the finish line tonight so I'll tip my cap now. Congrats Maximum PC on a solid effort. You guys really brought it, and its a well deserved victory.

I would also like to thank MPC and OCF for inviting us to participate this year, its been a lot of fun and I look forward another epic battle.

And finally, just because the Challenge has ended, doesn't mean we should all go back to a team centric mode. You're all welcome to drop by any time. Don't be strangers.

Thanks alan2308

I'm waiting breathlessly to start a thread proclaiming to all the world how happy we are with the outcome.
Won't be long now -G

frankly i would like to congratulate all the folders from all the teams involved.... you are all a class act (which is a strange concept for us monkeys)..... you all did very well in creating some fun and excitement in the folding world.... a lot of science got done and even if we picked up one new person or re energized some older passive folders it was well worth it...

i know it's rejuvenated our Commander in Chief [Ch]ams quite a bit which is nice to see...

i'd also like to thank KingFish who started this idea a couple of years ago... he has done quite well in advancing this contest to the international arena... who knows what else he may have in store

So i raise my beer in salute to all of you and to ma bro KingFish for a damn fine job this year....

She's Singing - The Race is Over - maximum_monkey Wins 2008 !!!!!

She's singing like there is no tomorrow.

Image

I'm going by the current Stanford totals and KingFish's starting numbers.

Another Chimp Challenge goes into the record books.
Teams 33, 32 and 24 are still completing the race, but maximum_monkey crossed the finish line with a decisive win.
That's 2 out of three for MaximumPC.

Depending on the sequence of finishers at the time the first team crosses the finish line (KingFish's rules in the first post), I will be drawing a lucky winner for KingFish's MB, proc and memory prize early tomorrow morning.

I'm going to leave my folders on maximum_monkey until tomorrow morning (make sure points), as Dreaded suggested in another thread.

This year's race went along very well, with a minimum of upset on any team (The [H] had a little).
Everyone will heal by next year and as has been true each year, the race will be bigger, better and badder.

After the party tonight (allow another day for most monkeys to sober up) there will be a meeting of next years race committee in the clubhouse meeting room.
That's meeting room C on the second floor.
Room's A & B are being refurbished after the meetings just before this race started.

It was a great race, most teams were happy for all the new folders they picked up along the way.

The length seemed perfect to me, long enough for anyone who could find additional firepower to bring it on.
Ten million might have seemed a bit dragged out for all concerned.
We will see what next year brings.

Look for some threads soon regarding donations for the
Image
Contest and an early June start to hopefully the best contest we have every seen.
It will have many more potential entries that's for sure.
Keep watching and see why I say that.

Congratulations to all the racers.
Everyones contribution is what made it happen.
If you managed to get one WU in or a hundred, you were an important part of our success this year -G

I'm very excited at our second victory in the 3rd Annual Chimp Challenge series. The trophy case is getting filled, there is plenty of hot and cold beverages stockpiled and am already ramping up the goods for the 4th Annual Shindig.

Great folding everyone, wow, would you look at that team ppd!

Congrats to everyone who participated in the Chimp Challenge!

It was great to meet members from the other teams. We have a shared goal and it's good to be able to have fun while doing it.

Thanks Kingfish for organizing it again.... now where's my jade monkey! :D

Can I firstly say congrats MPC. Bloody awesome effort. U should be very proud of what you've achieved.

And I know that we at OCAU are going to finish 4th but damn its been fun.

I hark back to this quote from Alan back on about page 9 of this thread.......

As of this morning I note with some glee that neither MPC nor OC.COM any longer have an overtake solution on OCAU @ EOC... so you see the race has helped us fulfil some goals too :) :)

We stand proud at number 2 and are now looking forward, not behind.

[H] be warned.

Cheers all, and again congrats to MPC

Absolutely awesome win from the maximum_monkey team!

Lead from the start and didn't look back too much.

Seems a tad unfair on the other two teams that we are the only other ones to get a trophy. :P

Staypuff, I hold you personally responsible for the purchase of a new quad. Only another nineteen to go.

What are you talking about? From my calculations we will still over take you in just under 30 years.

I cannot express how proud I am to be a part of this Team! You all rock!

As for our friends at [H], overclockers.com and OCAU, well-done! We are all winners in my book!

I have received some input requesting a new name for the racing monkey next year.

The people with lots of points over the years could start getting bumped out of the top10 by race names.

Of course if the race goes 10 million next year, it could happen with that name choice anyway.
Might be better to just have one name causing the problem.

If everyone could keep these thoughts in mind for next year, we will probably come up with the best solution possible at that time.

yes, a new name, nothing wrong with the one we have been using, but, and i almost suggested it before the contest.

but if the name means anything, we could fold as default, team 0, we would never lose a contest.

If we used a new team number, we could unseat a top 100 team in a week.
