What is the best buy for a set of speakers (5.1, 6.1, or 7.1) and a receiver on an $800 budget?

Here are the 2 conditions:
1) It can't also be a DVD player
2) It must have at least 2 HDMI Inputs and 1 Output

You'd be better off with a seperate budgets between the receiver and the speakers.

That's a nice receiver. I like Onkyo, Nakamichi, and JBL

Some fun news about my purchase.

I paid $499.99 for the receiver at Circuit City.

Yeah I could have bought it a little cheaper online, but sometimes buying from a local store has its advantages when it isn't that far away.

In any case the item went on sale 2 days later (today) and I happened to link it through http://www.PriceProtectr.com so I got an email with the details of the price change.

This afternoon I'll drive for 10 minutes and get $30 bucks back. Not too shabby!
