Humph. Flames are not fine. We really need to tune those up. Natural flames are very hard to make. But what I see is overspray. If ghosting was the goal, that's a totally different method than simple application.
In reality if you see this box, I see a bumpy orange peel finish [mnpctech9o] on point. Something is very wrong with the paint mix. There's pressure, mix ratio, sanding, clearing...many steps leaving this open to just applying.
Looks like PPG, but that's just up front. Could be anything with that poor blending mix. That's far from being recommended to repeat from a skilled user. The dots say strong mix, wrong air ratio.
I will never knock a mod if I can't do better, and show how to do so. If this had shown your method, we could debate it. We can't, so I look like a butthead. I'd really like to help you, and Joe Public, on how to paint better. Besides the poor paint...I see bolt on parts with no PC. (I can make the feet for $5 worth of material. It's two cuts on stock. I'll knurl them for the same price on the Cincinnati is one wanted...make a shape with the Hurco. Just saying...it's feet one can buy. If one wants pretty, we'll go. Always a dollar less then.)
I'm asking if we can do a painting walk through a bit more thorough than normal. I have a SATA rig to make one drool, but the technique can be shown that isn't in something like this...that's for sure. Perhaps some synthetic walk throughs as well so it's not so...chop a hole, put some mesh in...simple stuff. I'm just a paint guy. I nit pick on paint. We can learn if we skip offense. If it's a business, you earn money by listening.
Attention to detail is one thing. But everything on this jeep, so far...has every bolt north and south. I'll do some flames in 10 minutes...but the practice and tutorial takes time. It's able to be shown and shared though...for nothing but time.
Taste is another. I love flat backdrops to shiney accents. Clean cutting lines. Contrast (note the flat frame). That's the stuff I'd love to help others with. But I not only feel the overspray on the tips was meant, but could be learned from. A different mix and setting could finalize a better finish. It's really, a simple fade...vise splatter. And flames don't just stop and start again. You can work around the hole...the window. Use it as part of the canvas.
