Just built my new rig, and got a ridiculously high overclock. Here's the specs...

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 90nm(Winchester core)
Thermaltake Pipe101 Heatsink
Thermaltake UFO#2 CPU Fan
OCZ 2x512 PC3200 EL Platinum Rev. 2(dual-channel @ 2.5-4-4-10,1T)
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with bios 1.3

CPU temps stayed pretty constant around 40-42 C and case stayed near 29-30 C. Prime95 stable for 24+ hours too. HT multiplier @ 3x, CPU multiplier locked @ 9x. FSB @ 285. I bumped up the voltages for the CPU to 1.52v and the ram to 1.8v. Not too bad for a $200 cpu, eh? Will post benchmark scoes later.

Sweet!

I'm planning on building my brother's new computer with a 3000+ 90nm proc.

Mine's stable right now at 280x9, I bumped it down a little bit because i want better stability. The heatsink was $39 from new egg and the fan was $10, kind expensive for a heatsink/fan but it keeps the proc really cool. I used Arctic Silver thermal paste too, so i think that bumps it down 1-2c The only thing about OC'n them is that you have to get good RAM, or else it'll limit your OC big time. Mine's the OCZ PC3200 EL Platinum Rev 2. which will go up to DDR600 if i pushed it. Expensive though at 287. You're best bet to get a decent overclock without buying expensive ram is to look on Anandtech.com for their athlon 64 memory roundup, they had a few good budget choices that overclocked well. Good luck, feel free to email me with any questions.
