I have been lurking for quite a while and have seen posts that point out the console version folds faster than the GUI version. I am folding with 7 different computers right now ranging from a Celeron 600 to a Dual P4 Xeon rig.

My question is that in doing the switchover to console how do I keep the current WU active without losing them when I install the different version? Is it just the work folder that I need to copy or is there other files as well? Maybe just install it in the same directory, but wouldn't that overwrite needed files?

I would like to do all the machines at the same time and not wait till each one finishes a work unit to switch it over. Or do some of you think the difference between versions is not even worth the switchover time. If I have to wait for the celeron 600 to finish its work unit according to EMIII I may not do the switch till after Halloween!!

I welcome any and all responses.

If you place the console in the same directory as the GUI, it should work just fine.

It's not a bad idea to delete all your core_xx.exe files and let the console download the latest versions of each core.

Cool, that is what I will do then. I just wasn't sure if the two versions would conflict with each other.

Also I didn't mention that some of the older folding machines I have had the old 4.x GUI version on them. I hope this won't make a difference.

This was a question I had too, thanks Thunar for the post. I've got 8 WU's completed, and was wondering if I should select pause work when done, then shut the program down, then install. I wanted to leave both programs in till I saw which one I liked better.
