Do you know of a good sale somewhere? Have a link for parts that's an awesome deal? Post it here.

Please post links to sales online or in stores. Motherboard combo's, cheap drives. Dell or other manufacturer coupon codes may be appreciated also. If it will help someone upgrade for less, post it here.

I started this post because of something that was said in another post.

I had an ECS 478 pin mobo with a Celeron 3.0 Ghz cpu that I removed (both) and installed an ECS 775 pin mobo with an Intel P4 D (dual core cpu) 930 running at 3.0 Ghz.

Guess what the fantastic news is: It only cost $160.00 to make the upgrade. Think about it a complete working, folding computer for $160.

Here are the details:
On June 26, 2006 I went to a Fry's in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove & bought an Intel Boxed D930 (w/fan) (Priced at $126.7 and a ECS P4M800PRO-M MoBo (w/1066 FSB and DDR1 and DDR2)(Priced at $33.20) for a total of $160.00. The sale ended 6/27 but there's other similar sales all of the time.

Example:
At Fyr's: on the Internet at: outpost.com

A boxed Intel D930 (w/fan) #4694638 Costs $184.00
An ECS mobo P4M800PRO-M #4767009 Costs $59.99
.............................................Seperate Total....$243.99

So here is the hot scoop:

The above combined and sold as a combo #4837840 Costs $179.99 +shipping.

And Here is a Hot scoop if you have access to a local Fry's like Chicago:

The above combined But with an Intel D940 (3.2Ghz) sold as a combo #4905961 for $199.99

P.S. My one machine that has the D930 in it is currently running 286 Points per day.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!

So all that moan that there are no local Fry's:

USE THE internet and save gas money and time not having to drive in traffic.

P.S. I just bought and installed one of these combo's
I am currently running 286 points per day with this Machine.
P2096 at 143 P/D times 2 =286 (Both halves are running the same project)

Wireless router for 5 bucks, can't be beat ;) Have to wait for the rebate but it will definitely be worth it once that 95$ rebate comes back :)

$199 for an EMachines desktop. After rebates of cours!

Not a bad little system. It looks similar in specs to the one I have, and it gets a decent amount of PPD.

Dime a dozen dual core. The Pentium D 805 is just $104 at newegg. It runs at 2.66GHz but overclocks over 3.0GHz with ease. It's low 533FSB allows you to run low latency DDR2-667 at a 1:1 ratio at CPU speeds up to 3320MHz. Beyond that you'll probably want to go with DDR2-800.

At this price everyone can afford to swap out a single core s775 CPU for a dual core but check for motherboard support first. It's a great way to increase computing density and add another CPU with minimal additional hardware.

If you need to expand your network, CompUSA is running a nice deal on a netgear 16 port 10/100 switch. It's $30 after rebates ($40+$10 rebates).

One day sales at newegg, the 805 is down to $96.99.
