I know Nvidia has been having a hard time bringing their Geforce 6 series to the masses but it has been 6 months since their release date.

The Geforce 6 series came out April 14th, 2004. So on October 14th, 2004 it will have been 6 months. If I'm not mistaken Nvidia is suppose to release a new series/GPU every 1/2 year.

So where's my NV50? :D

I believe it is an updated version of the series every 6 mos, then a new series every 12 mos.

But I dont think they are keeping to that schedule lately...

Take a look at the NV43, though its a budget card. It has precursor properties to the next-gen kickass models. Namely the smaller process size, native pci-express, and lower power usage. Sums up to more room for transistors and higher clock speeds than the 6800 ultra extreme hence the cooler running because of the lower heat output of the smaller process size(i think its down to .110 from .130(too lazy to check). Im guessing we will see a newer card come out based on the NV43 with 16 pipelines and 256 bit memory rather then 8 pipes and 128bit memory(6600 GT). Maybe 550+ cores and unseen memory clocks. That spells kickass.

neither ati nor nvidia have released new cards on a 6 month basis for a while now. its more like every 6 months for a product refresh and 12 months for a new product.

NV48 is coming in November (supposedly from multiple sources) basically a Geforce 6800Ultra clocked higher on a PCIExpress interface, to help with the low inventory of AGP NV45's and the rush to have high end cards out for the holidays!!! me waiting on it   :D

NV48 will be for PCI Express then..cool

I hope AMD mobo's receive PCI Express soon. I'm looking to upgrade my whole system...I still have a AMD Athlon XP 1900+ and VIA KT266A chipset with Geforce 3 graphics.

So far its handled everything decently even doom 3. Amazing since that GPU is like 3 years old.

COME ON AMD I WANT PCI EXPRESS!!! :D

AMD and nVIDIA will move to an 18 month cycle.
Only thing down the pipeline is the nv48 and nv45 chips.
ATI will just have more r4xx down the line, variations of PCI-E chipsets.
