Yeah, I was talking about motherboards manufacturers in general when I said that Abit doesn't offer much info about the BIOS. I was just using Abit as a more specific example.
Is it an Award BIOS? If so, you should be able to find some pretty standard info on the web.
BTW, if you have a spare $240, you can swap out the guts of that Gateway for an Abit NF7-S mobo, AMD Barton 2400+ Mobile which can easily be oc'ed to 3200+, and 512mb Mushkin Enhanced DDR 400, though you need to overclock the CPU FSB to get it to that speed.
I'm running the same mobo and RAM with an AMD Barton 2500+ oc'ed to 3200+. The ambient temp is about 27C, the mainboard temp is about 40C and the CPU temp is 56C. That's why I would reccommend the 2400+ mobile instead, less wattage, less heat, unlocked by default (though my 2500+ was too), thus better oc'ing.
Once you get that stuff you can smash the hell out of your old gateway crap with a 5lb sledgehammer
