Its claim to fame is a 4/3" 8 Megapixel sensor and interchangeable lenses (most 8 Megapixel cameras use 2/3" CCDs).

The Zuiko lens lineup for the 4/3 system is seriously lacking... and look at the price for the 300mm lens, that's robbery. I prefer constant aperture lenses with a wide variety of focal lengths... something this system doesn't deliver. The only thing that's really appealing is the rangefinder-like small size, but that's not enough...

I don't see why Canon or Nikon shouldn't be able to offer something better in the not-so-distant future.

This camera fits between POS digitals and the low-end digital SLRs offered by Canon and Nikon, IMO. Anyone see a price on the site somewhere?

As Maxx pointed out, the selection of lenses is lacking. If I'm going to drop serious cash (by my standards) on a digital SLR, it won't be one limited to a small family of proprietary lenses.

Also .. it is slow. I need a camera capable of taking quick shots of people in movement ... 2.5 fps is not fast enough.

Thanks for the linkage, Chams ... it is nice to know that the market is expanding ... but for now, I'm going to keep Nikon's D70 at the top of my wish list. :)

My biggest problem with the lenses is that they're all slow, variable aperture zooms...
Nothing above f2.8 is gonna cut it indoors, in low light, and if the E-1 is any indication, ISO800+ is gonna be too noisy.

The Nikon camp has some nice toys, especially the new DX lenses (17-55 f/2.8 or 200-400 f/4.0 *drool*) but I just wish Nikon cameras would do better in the high ISO department, I fear Canon is owning them there, hands down, especially at 1600 and 3200.

How bout saving up an extra 500$ for the Canon 20D :D

Absolutely.

I do two types of photography ... outdoor landscape, and outdoor climbing. The vast majority of my climbing pictures are taken during sunny days, generally in the shade ... and most of my outdoor shots are also during the day ... so I'm too concerned with the upper-end ISOs. I do need a fast camera, though, that can take several crisp shots of climbers in motion ... so when I have the money, I'll probably buy the fastest camera from in my price range ... as long as it has a large range of quality glass.

*drool*

It all depends on the size of my bonus.

*shivers in anticipation*

Toys! :D
