Hey, I'm new to overclocking so I thought I'd start with my video card.
Could you guys tell me which applications you use to overclock your cards and why? I appreciate any positive feedback.

I overclock to get more FPS! Pretty basic cause. Make sure you use RivaTuner though. I think it's the best video card overclocking utility. Also, if you overclock it too much, you see articacts (little odd colored or missing pixels). By then you should back off a bit on the OCing. And, even if you dont see artirfacts, you may be OCing a little more than the optimal amount, becaause the heat generated might slow it down. I usually run 3dmark 2001 SE and test my video card on different settings to see on which frequency setting I get the best FPS. Remember, even if you dont see any artifacting, higher OCing is not always better. I've learned that from my experiences.

I personally prefer coolbits when OC'ing my vid card. I also overclock for better framerates. Just be careful and be smart. Don't get greedy with the speed either, thats a sure way to screw things up, though coolbits actually resets the settings if they become unstable. My two cents.
