As per the topic **Official** Team Monkey Challenge Thread post # 235, rules will be adjusted as such:

official rules with the prize:

1. First team to accumulate 500,000 points from the start time wins.

2. Start time for the contest is Friday, May 5 th at 12pm, Pacific Daylight Time.

3. The victor gets to claim the lucky Jaded Monkey as the prize. Tales have been told of untold wealth and fame that comes with this. The victorious team is allowed to display in any honorary fashion the jaded monkey, the losing team is forbidden to display it. The losing team is bestowed the dreaded Monkey Paw, which is said to be cursed. People have been known for have very bad luck with this paw

4. Team captains are as follows: Garynator from overclockers and Spider Monkey from MaxPC.

5. In the event of a close race, the Stanford site will be considered the official source for points information.

6. Have fun and keep it positive.

7. There cannot be a spike of more than 5000 points within the last 50000 points of the race. Temporary rule


Rules temporarily amended on 5/13/06 until Spider and Garynator can agree if said rule is needed

I remember the post, and didn't check to see if it was ever incorporated into the rules since I'm trying to stay out of the specifics. I think it's a good fair rule, don't you agree? It's beneficial to both teams, especially since Stanford will zero out points if this does happen.

why will Stanford zero out the points..... we've jumped higher than 5000 ppd each day of the beginning of this contest so far..... we went from 16k to 24k (8k ppd jump), 24k to 41k (17k ppd jump) then 41k to 50k (9k ppd jump)..... what if some more people on our team join in the end and it just happens that we turn in a lot of wu's that day....... there are 100's of procs involved right now..... 5k isn't that much with this many procs involved so should I ask are we now going to be zero'd out from these increases...????

How about this. Let Spider and garynator discuss it. To protect both teams until they do, we'll leave it. I personally feel the number should be higher, or some kind of time limit should be added if the rule will stay. garynator did agree about the rule at one time, and if Spider and he feel it is not needed it can be taken out very easily.

Take it to the strategy.

I agree Spider and gary are supposed to be the ones setting the rules but this still does not answer my question.... why would Stanford zero out our points because of a big day??????

Stanford does not even know about this contest unless David from OC Forums has happened to mention it in the mods section at the Folding Community forum. The Pande Group is not going to zero any points unless it is related to some folding trojan. All of our results returned for this contest are legitimate. Spider and garynator will have to "shake" on the final interpretation of the rule. Nothing more, nothing less. Keep up the fold!

As crazy high as the points are, the 5k spike @ last 50k rule could hurt either team, I would consider raisng this a bit, take a look at what increase each team has had the past couple days, and put it a bit over that.

5k spike seems reasonable rule, neither team has had that big a bump since leveling off. I would reconsider my previous statement.

I say we leave the rules alone and have fun enjoying what is left of the race.

3 fake monkeys get sent to heaven..... at the gate the chief angel says welcome to heaven.... you each get a new car to drive around depending on how faithful you were to your wife.......

the first fake monkey says I've never even thought about cheating on my wife and bam he gets a brand new Rolls Royce.... the second fake monkey says well I actually thought about cheating on my wife but never did... bam he gets a new Cadillac...... the third fake monkey says well I almost cheated on my wife but ended up not going through with it so bam he got a Chrysler K car.....

2 weeks later the 2 fake monkeys in the Cadillac and K car stop to see the fake monkey with the Rolls Royce sitting on the curb crying..... they asked "why are you so sad dude you got the nicest car"?????

add me, its a real pain, all the nitpicking, fold, the winner will have gotten 500,000 first, there is no time to debate, the contest started 8 days ago, and is more than half over.

this race is going to fast for anyone to hold back, much faster than either side anticipated
