I've been working with Strat on the folding web site. A few weeks ago, he put up the money for our new host. I've tried to reach him to reimburse him, but haven't had any luck.

I emailed him May 9th and hadn't heard back anything until today.

Quote:
subject: Strat, are you ok?
Dick, haven't seen you around in over a week (or is it 2) I'm getting concerned. I need to reimburse you for the web site. I hope there's nothing serious that happened.

Sue

I am crushed to have to post this:

Our friend and team mate Dick aka Stratplan, has passed away from a heart attack.

Quote:
his son: My father passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack on April 27th. I
am working through his business to see what needs to be done to maintain his clients websites.

I found a mention of his death online by one of his clients:
RiceOnline mourns the loss of Webmaster Dick Huddleston

Quote:
It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of our webmaster, Mr. Dick Huddleston.

Dick was instrumental in the founding and development of RiceOnline.com, and he continued to served the company as webmaster and a director. We will miss not only his knowledge and experience, but also his honesty, integrity, and high standard of ethics.

Mr. Huddleston had a B.S. in Industrial Technology, and was a Graduate of the Graduate School of Banking, Univ. of Wisconsin, and Bank Marketing Institute, Northwestern Univ. - He had over 40 years experience in business management and systems integration, and was President of Strategic Planning, an Internet Consulting and Content Provider firm.

I also found a photo!

See the bottom

Nice to put a face to the name :)

I just found his obituary:

Three great folders have passed. First rph_iv, then Ohairy1, and now our friend stratplan.

My condolences to his family.

We will miss the wise words beside the airborne avatar. His contribution to science and our team will not be forgotten.

When this race is over we have to fold him into top100.

My guess is he will get an honorary boost to 1,000,000 and the million club.

He was having fun folding (as I am) you could tell in his posts.

You all added another reason to enjoy life for him.

We will be back Strat - as soon as the race is over.

As Blondie suggested, I would love to do a SpotLight on Strat with his Son's help. I am ready to start anytime (if he is willing).

I couldn't have said it better.

After the race, at least one of my boxes will be pointed towards him, and remain that way.

I haven't gotten back to his son yet, but when I do, I will direct him here and ask if there is anything we can do. I've been feeling so helpless for the last hour or so since I posted this, thinking it would have been nice to send flowers at his viewing, but obviously we can't do that now. I've been in his son's shoes. After my dad died, I sent out a few emails from his computer, my heart breaks for his family.

Strat was a really nice guy, I knew it from his posts, but the last month or so that we've worked on the web site together, I got to know him a little better. He was a very patient man, he had to be with some of the n00b questions I asked him about our web site control panel :) In the beginning, he bought our domain for us, just because he was tired of us talking about it and doing nothing - lol

I tried to get a web team together. He made a few really good posts, I pm'd him asking him to join us, he'd ignore my question, but I persisted. lol I guess I eventually wore him down, he agreed to help me.

I had like 3 pm's written to him. He'd posted here about what we've done with the web site, I'd pm'd him the next night, he never responded. I ended up condensing the 3 into 1, then decided to email him because I was getting really worried. It wasn't like him to not have internet. When he was on the road, he still logged in from hotels. I'm in total shock to hear this.

I looked to see if we had a spotlight on him, we don't. I wonder if his son would be willing to write up a tribute spotlight.

When the Chimp Challenge is done, I'd like all of our machines to point at Stratplan, let's give him a send-off. I've asked Six for a custom title for him.

This is Dick's last post

I can remember reading it after he posted and laughing.

Image Rest in peace Dick, the team will miss you, I will miss you.

Damn, I just saw this in another thread. That sucks. I didn't know him much beyond that he was a fellow folder, but he seemed like a good guy. It's always sad to hear a member has passed. :(

I have modified my avatar to include Stratplans AirBorne Insignia.
GM has done the same ( It's where I got the idea)

If someone wants to have me make a modified version of their avatar (email me not PM - so I can send it back as an attachment and not have to host all of them).
If the numbers are big it could take a while - I'm fooling around with some silly race.
I will do them in the order received.
