Ok, I have for a few weeks now been hitting this forum up and reading, taking advice, and applying suggestions to succesfully overclock my puter...

and yes i have had success, thanks to "MPC" and the rest of the members.

On 3dmark03 when i first started with my machine, i had a score of 10,636...

After replacing my PSU and replacing 4 of my fans and overclocking my CPU, 6800GT, and Memory i found myself with a 3dmark score ranging from 11939 to 11986 consistantly.

Click here to download the excel sheet ...

My ultimate goal is to break 12,000 with this system as is (with the included hardware)

I currently have the following :

ABIT KV8-MAX3
AMD 64 3000+ @ 2.26 (ocGuru)
PC2700 DDR @ 266mhz - this is my next upgrade...
eVGA 6800GT @ 422mhz engine - 1133mhz memory (power strip)

What I am really asking is for the little extra umph! out of this system to brake the 12,000 mark...

is it possible?

oh, and thanks to MPC and everyone for their support and info...

I was under the impression that PC2700 DDR ran at 333Mhz, not 266.

Try pulling out 2 sticks of RAM and run 3DMArk03 again tell me what you get.

ok, i took your advice and took 2 of the chips out, reset my ram to run at 333mhz and re-ran the 3dmark 3x and the average score is now 10,927

That link is to another Excel file. For those that don't have MS Office or Excel on their PC's, an Excel Viewer is available here so you can view his results.

12021! What was the part that pushed you over? Did a RAM upgrade really help?

i put all three stix or RAM back in the machine which running @ 233mhz
and ran the test and received my usual 119xx score, so i slowly notched my CPU and 6800GT clock up one notch at a time until i reached these settings...

CPU - AMD 64 3000+ rated @ 2.024

overclocked speed : 227.026 (using uGuru)
voltage : 1.590
-----------------------------------------------------

Video Card - eVGA 6800GT - rated @ 350mhz engine / 1000mhz memory

overclocked : 422mhz engine / 1152mhz memory (using powerstrip)

AGP voltage : 1.60

-----------------------------------------------------

PC2700 DDR333 512 x3

voltage 2.95 (don't ask)

trust me, after completing my goal of 12,000... i returned everything to its default setting... its not that i need to run it at that speed, its just that i know it is capable of doing it when i need to push it to the maximum...

Congrats on achieving 12,000! Just goes to show you what good research and patience can do. I hope this inspires others not to be afraid of tweaking thier systems in the appropriate and safe manner.

Because that's what this site is all about. Maximum PCs! 8)

I cranked out a 12,985 with less of a system than that. Well, except that my 6800 GT ran at 444/1170, so nevermind.
