Maximum PC

getting ready to get my feet wet OCing. I have the P4 2.4A and ECS i865 PE-A mobo. My question is, the mobo bandwidth support is only 3.2g and the OCZ Gold I was looking at (2X256 dualies) is 4.0. Will that still work or should I go with the 3200? Theres only a few bucks difference.

The 4000 will give you some extra room to run at 1:1 CPU:FSB

get the fastest memory you can afford, if you upgrade later take the memory with you, so to speak, i really dont think you can overbuy memory, qualify by saying things are going to ddr2 so stay within the scope of the next big upgrade, which will more than likely mean all new technology.

Thanks for all of your help. I was concerned about a compatibility problem and that question has been answered. I will get as much as my budget allows. I plan upgrading everything in the next year, so it will be nice if I can take something with me.

I've never been a "cutting edge" sorta person. I'm usually a year or two behind, but for a reason. When I was young and that was a looong time ago, everyone was getting color TV's. 'Cept my Dad. "They cost way too much and they look like crap" he would say. And he was right of course.
I kinda picked up that attitude myself in this hobby. I let the other guys
do the beta testing and save myself, not so much as in money but as grief, i.e. sticking with WIN98SE instead of WINME (beta test of XP that failed).
Cripes....whatta got in this beer g. m.?
