 Post subject: overclock a northwood 3.2ghz

i overclocked my 3.2 ghz northwood processor. but somehow the computer wont start iteslf. i overclocked it to 3.6ghz, how do i determine that if the processor is burned or not? is there anyway to tell? no i did not smell anything

Have you tried resetting your CMOS yet?

Either reset the CMOS as ExtremePCs mentioned, or hit the power and hold down the Insert key on your keyboard. On some motherboards, that resets the last set of BIOS changes.

If that doesn't work, you'll have to pull the HSF off and have a look at the CPU, and possibly try the CPU in another motherboard.

And one more option to add to the pile...you can try switching your power supply off for at least a few minutes, flip it back on, then hit the power button. Works on my Asus whenever I piss it off.
