I'm getting a DVD Burner and was wondering what is the best format to burn with ?

DVD+R or DVD-R ?

If anyone could direct me to some articles, that would be great.

Thanks

:D :D

basically, dvd-r is the most compatible format, while dvd+r is faster for burns.

im using dvd-r and it works great with any of my dvd players. It also depends on what media you are using. im using ritek G04's. Im sure +R is good, but -r is cheaper i think

I'm using DVD-R and so far after about 25 burns I have had no problems with movies or data.

I used to use only dvd-R to burn movies because of the compatability issues surrounding dvd+, but I've switched over to dvd+r.
1) It's apparently technologicaly more advanced
2) It's is, contrary to common belief, compatible in all new set top dvd players made within the last 2 years.
3)The price is the same as DVD-R, so why not buy better technology for the same price?
4) My Plextor DVD burner lets me burn 4X DVD+R at 8X, which leads to 6.5 mins to burn a dvd video instead of 14 minutes with DVD-!

Even when I burn these DVD+ discs at higher speeds than rated, they are identical to ones burnt at 4X.
I would reccomend using Maxell or Memorex. Memorex is cheaper in cost, so I usually stick with it.
All the best.
=)

Hey, I wanted to bring this up with another Plexy user. I too prefer the x4 DVD+R media in the 712A (however, I prefer TDK's). But I've recently gotten my hands on some x8 DVD+R and found that it actuall burns slower on this x8 media than the x4 stuff (x8 turns in an x6 rating). Have you ran into this as well?
