Crap, I forgot it....there is one called drvimage.exe I think. Its something like that. There are two with the same name (drive image or something). You want the free one.

I haven't tried it - but I hear it works fine.

XP mag recommended it IIRC

Easier thing though...go hit the manufacturer's site...every utility disk I've seen has this function on there.

my seagate drives came with a utility's disk and one of the utility's will let me copy partitions.....will this work as a ghost utility?

Like I said, I haven't used it - but WinXP mag (I'm pretty sure it was them) recommended it.

unlike ghost, this program doesn't appear to create an "image" as much as it creates a "mirror". But in pratice, I am not sure the difference will matter. It might though - depends on what the description means by "mirror"

EDIT - It looks like it does create an image file and not just clone a partition - END EDIT

partition image might be as good or better a solution.

I say check them both out - use the best one and ALWAYS test freeware of this type before using them for real. After all, most freeware is not a critical application and if it fails - well no biggie. But if these fail just when you need them it might be a serious PITA

Do these work for say taking a SATA drive thats empty and then transfering everything (drives and all) from the old (IDE ) drive to the new SATA drive then moving the old drive out?

??? or dop i actually have to get norton Ghost. but 60 bucks is allot for something ill use once.
