alienware has that little head on the back of the monitor...well, the eyes flash. i dont really like lights. but, that is personal opinion.

i hear that alienware's customer service isnt very good. voodoo is based in canada, so they are open on national holiday too (US only holidays).

based on actual parts, i would bet that voodoo is slightly better. they usually have the bleeding edge tech for the computer components.

Dell, Voodoo, Alienware, all 3 have real high performance parts and are pretty reputable.

Sager has nice components for the price, so they are also worth checking out.

I will agree that Voodoos are nice. But they are no more than re-tagged compal, asus, and sager notebooks. Unless you want to pay an extra grand for a paintjob and software "tweaking", I would suggest a reseller like http://www.powernotebooks.com

Sager, like Eurocom, Voodoo, and Pro-Star, is also nothing more then a re-tagged Clevo. Sager does not make their own notebooks.

I'd go with Systemax.. they do make their own... and have great customer support....
they have been around longer than Dell,Gateway all the biggies, just not in the private sector, they are relatively new to the public (10 years)
I would check them out before considering the others......

Systemax = Over 14 years in business

Dell = Over 20 years in business

Check both vendor's websites, you'll find my numbers accurate

Um yes you are right about the consumer end of it.... at systemaxpc.com, I said over 10 years in public/consumer end....
but if you goto the actual systemax site, the Investor Relations site for corporate systemax etc, you will find a little more info....
systemax.com

Throw in Hypersonic-PC as well. They have pretty high reseller ratings. Falcon NW with their Fragbook DR is in the power laptop game as well.

However, most of these guys (voodoo, hypersonic, and sager) are all selling the same chassis with different paint and some variety of parts. It all comes down to price and whose customer service you like best.

However, regarding Alienware, a check of their forums and some other notebook-specific forums shows that their user-upgradable graphics concept has not worked quite the way most hoped.
