Here is a list of free video games. And when I say free I mean as in freeware that you can download and play from start to finish without paying a cent. They can have nag screens but you must be able to play the entire game. No shareware first level free type games, demos, game mods, etc.

Video Games:
America's Army - Windows/MacOS/Linux - FPS created and funded by United States Army.
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory - Windows/Linux - FPS online multiplayer online.
Soldat - Windows - 2D multiplayer 3rd person shooter.
GunBound - Windows - Described as having a style of play similar to worms.
Starsiege: Tribes - Windows - Team based multiplayer FPS.
Tribes 2 - Windows - Team based multiplayer FPS.
Chromium B.S.U. - Linux/Windows - Top down shooter
Flight Gear - Linux/Windows/OSX/Solaris - Flight Simulator
FooBillard - Linux/Windows/OSX - OpenGL pool simulation
Grand Theft Auto - Windows - Everyone knows what GTA is!
Wild Metal - Windows - 3D strategic vehicular combat game set in a distant land
Ground Control - Windows - classic RTS
Leage of Legends - The premier MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) game currently out there
Dota 2 - A solid competitor to LoL in the MOBA arena
Marvel Heroes - Think Diablo II style play but with superheroes & multiplayer at all times
WarFrame - Another futuristic FPS
PlanetSide 2 - A fun MMOFPS
BlackLight Retribution - A fun FPS battle arena game, set a bit in the future with the ability to customize your weapons
MechWarrior Online - A mech based arena game. Usually capture the base style gameplay
Hawken - A mech game but a lot faster paced with a few different game modes
Path of Exile A Diablo style dungeon crawl with a lot of customization

yea my booboo :) although you can't actually download and play it right now. Tribes 2 requres a CDkey and apparently fileplanet(who is distributing the game) is out of cd-keys to give away. They won't get any for like another month or two probabbly. :(

Best Quake 3 mod ever, and is a free total conversion. If you have a Q3 CD you should get it. I've been playing it since the beginning.

Are there any free games available that are similar Metal Arms, or any other 3rd-person robot/mech shooters? I can't get highspeed because of where I live, so I'm stuck on this dial up...I'm looking for a game that's not required to be online. I can however play CS with minimal lag...

Some wicked awesome freeware games:

hellfighter - Wish this bastard would release the source, he's given up on it and had a 3d version in the works!
p47 - Some crazy japanese bastard with a terrifying sense of game design.
