I've been getting the itch for a new system lately but wouldn't be a big step up, til now! The Dream Machine got me started! One problem though....I can't find any PCI Express video cards????? All the usual online shopping places I frequent don't list any Nvidia 6800 or ATI X800XT in PCI-E. Will I have to wait longer?? Even the P4 3.6 560 is not readily available. The places that do have the cpu, I will not deal with from past experiences. Also, the Asus m/b, while a killer, I was hoping to be ready for a duel Nvidia setup. Or am I not understanding the way it works?? Thanks

I don't have the answers you're looking for, but you did notice that the DM '04 is a $12,000 computer, right? Of course, subtract all the $800 paint jobs, $5000 LCD displays, and such and you can get it down to where it's a tad more reasonable.

There's none out in the big-boy club yet. If you want to start getting this thing together, you can opt for a mid-level x600 from Asus or MSI for about $200, or a little Abit x300SE for $87 to get you buy until then. I know that the little x300 probably whoops up on the Ti4200 I have been running:p

Or, you can just get all this stuff ordered up besides the card and spend time setting it all up right. Work on wiring, cooling, and basically doing a good job. That really can take a week once you get it all recieved. By then, maybe the bigger boys will have PCIE cards for us.

nVidia is about to release their 6600 cards to go up against the x600. The battle isn't as glorious as the 6800/x800 ones, but still worth watching. I'm just assuming that PCIE is about to open the gates. The consumers are finally starting to buy the hardware that needs them, so they'll respond soon enough.

That's the beauty of the dream machine--it really is just a dream at this point, but will become reality in the next month or so.

Oh right, Dream Machine! While a great machine, I had been expecting to spend $2k-3k. I looked at it with a "do I really need that" attitude. I talked myself into waiting a bit longer til everything is available and prices will probably drop by then to! It's like buying a new car, you get a better deal at the end of the month rather than the beginning! Thanks guys.
