I just got my new scanner which is USB 2.0 and it wont transfer in hi-speed mode, only the regular slower usb.

a box popped up about no usb host controllers installed, so I am not sure what is going on.

specs:
winXP Pro
is7 motherboard
80gig HD
40gig HD
blah blah.. if you need any more info let me know

I have checked abit website and on usbman.com but just cant get it to work. I am pretty sure the IS7 comes with 8 usb 2 ports I just cant get them to work. any advice?

weird... but it does scan, right?

All updated via windows updates? Check device manager to see if the USB 2.0 host controllers are installed and whatnot...

*still looking for possible problem*...

I had that problem with external hd and I knew my usb ports were 2.0.... What eved up being the problem was that usb 2.0 support was turned off in the bios.... So this may be his problem. as my msi board had a simple enable / disable switch on the bios right below the usb legacy option.

jawa has a good point. It simply might not be enabled in bios.

Make sure it's on hispeed in the USB section of your bios not fullspeed and it should be compatible, then.

I suggest the same as another poster, make sure its enabled in the bios. Also you can check this by going to device manager and looking around there. The highspeed usb will be called Expanded usb or something to that effect. Its not exactly that, but you will notice the difference.

" The final release version of the Microsoft USB 2.0 drivers are included in Windows XP Service Pack 1.

The stand alone USB 2.0 drivers have been pulled from the Microsoft Windows Update Site and Corporate Download Site.

* http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/c ... efault.asp

Complete USB 2.0 driver information is posted on the USB 2.0 page."

Try that, see if you have it. If not, download and see if it'll work.

I wasn't aware scanners really truly needed usb 2.0 speeds... It's not like you have a live constant feed.
