I have a linksys wireless router model #BEFW11S4. I am going to be adding two more computers into my network and instead of buying two more wireless cards I want to know if I can connect a linksys access point model #WAP11 to the network. I want to know will this access point be able to connect to the router wirelessly or does it have to be wired to it because I do not want a cable running up the stairs. I tried to figure this out myself but I was getting confused looking at all these different sites. Thanks.

Either way, the data still has to get to the PC's, right? You planning on having the Access point directly wired to the PC? Sounds much more simple to get the wireless cards and call it good.

An AP or a bridge is just a Wireless Jumper-wire IMO. You already have an Access point in that wireless router. So adding another AP is kinda moot unless the signal doesn't reach that far, then you can get the AP or Wireless bridge. (That thing should travel through a wooden home very well. Some apartments/duplex's may have trouble with lead paint or something. I know this place has issues:p)

Me, I have a WMP54G card and I'm not even wireless anymore:p I'm bass ackwards:p

This is a pretty good FAQ IMO:

I will be hooking up a switch to the access point and then hooking up the two computers to the switch. I want to know if the access point can connect to the router wirelessly because buying an access point would be cheaper than buying two wireless cards.

If you give me 2 days I will return to my country and I can test my cousin's BEFW11S4 with my WAP54G in repeater mode and see if they are compatible.

I will update you in 2 days, estimated on Saturday at 6:00pm central time.
