Hello. I recently installed a 180g Western Digital hard drive as a single drive. I used the software that came with it, but it cannot be installed after windows is installed and win xp pro reverses everything it does if done before windows is installed. basically, Windows says its only 133g or something like that. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get all of my drive space? Thanks.

Make sure your BIOS supports 48-bit LBA and that you have SP1 installed for Windows. You can read more here:

So, if I do these things, my drive will switch to 180 without reinstalling windows? If not, how do I do this before I install windows? That is one of my problems. I thought that once windows was installed the drive was stuck at whatever it said it was 137 or 180. Thanks.

No reinstallation should be necessary.

Well, I installed Service Pack 1a (I already had SP1, but had to get 1a to get my atapi.sys to the correct version *.1135) and also did the registry edit to change the EnableBigLba value to 1. I'm not sure what to do after this, however. The Western Digital software will not let me do anything to the drive in Windows since it is the master/single drive and the dos version will make me format the drive, I believe. Can anyone help me get to the next step? Thank you.
