I'm attempting to run Doom 3 on my PC, but get NASTY side effects, namely a pixelating-like static.

My rig setup is:

AMD Athlon XP Barton 2800+
MSI K7N2 Delta-L mobo
2x 512MB Samsung PC2700 DDR(Dual Channel)
2x Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM 8MB HDs
Sapphire Radeon 9700 PRO (w/ ATI Catalyst 4.7 drivers)
Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Gamer
Sony DRU-510A DVD Burner
Sony DVD/CD-RW CRX300E
DirectX 9.0c

Everything up to date(critical updates)

Any answers?

Supposedly ATI has beta Catalyst 4.9 drivers avaliable for download. But use them at your own risk.

=======================
ATI is providing an early version of CATALYST 4.9 to users interested in increasing performance of Doom 3.

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS BEFORE YOU PROCEED:

The BETA display drivers found here are offered AS IS, without warranty of any kind, and have NOT been completely qualified by ATI. Usage of these drivers are without support of any kind, and you use them at your own risk.

ATI does NOT recommend installing these drivers in systems used for mission critical operations or where productivity of any kind is a concern.

Unless you are very comfortable with installing and un-installing drivers, we DO NOT recommend that you use the drivers provided here. These BETA Drivers are NOT SUPPORTED by ATI Customer Care or any other ATI department.

Check the fan on the card. It sounds like a heat issue or faulty ram on the card.

Ok i got it figured out. Seems i have forgottent that i ran PowerStrip to OC the VPU and the RAM a notch. Thats what was giving me all the artifacts and the crashes. I have since downcycled them to 300/300 and everything is working perfectly. BTW....Does anyone run Doom3 with the Catalyst 4.7 drivers?? just in case WInXP decides to take a shit, thats the only drivers i got!!

P.S. God im a dumbass

That's cool... at least they're working on it :)

Hopefully, they'll have a stable version soon.

Download omegas drivers. I had crashes on all the resolutions. Ince I downloaded and installed the softmod it worked like a charm. I am running at 1024x768 with no AA.

 I ran the whole setup today on my buddies machine and the response was incredible!!!!!!!!!!

He is a much older enthusiast and still has the shareware version for win 95 on floppy .

I updated all of his rig and ran the catylist 4.7 then the 4.9 beta after without a hitch . He called me tonight, and I never have seen 60year old man sound so giddy !

Were going to load the Z Board on his machine tomorrow and from the looks of it he will have the entertainment of his life for the next few months ..

His specs:

Pentium 4 3.0c
Soyo Dragon P4X400 Lite
Maxtor 210gb ata133
WinXp Pro
Ati Radeon 9600p
Soundblaster live Xgamer
1gb Corsair VS Memory @400mhz
ZBoard Keboard with teh Doom ]|[ Overlay

If you Haven't seen the ZBoard You reall Should Check it out!!!

um how can there be beta 4.9 when we are on final version 4.7? wheres 4.8?

anyways, i got a radeon 9000 pro and i get 15 fps which is better than 10 fps with the 4.7. Plus i get 85 fps in unreal tournament! before i get 60, strange.

But it doesnt seem to get along with zone alarm, zone alarm freezes up

Catalyst 4.9 drivers ARE NOT production quality.

For one... they've completely hozed my AIW's TV capture driver (reinstalled the WDM driver, still no-go).

I can live without TV capture for a while tho :D

I also had this static, I was running some really old drivers though. Installing 4.7s fixed it.
