I surf as a limited account and I use Norton Anti-Virus. Norton disables "run as" to protect the AV does anyone know how to work around this.

Get rid of Norton. Get AVG Antivirus from www.grisoft.com. This is the easiest manner to see if it is in fact a situation caused by Norton AV or a problem with the OS.

Grisoft does have a free version available if you are concerned.

Hi Bob,

Are U sure its Norton that is the culprit and not the limited status? I don't run limited, but I haven't seen this problem with AV2004.

It is used when you surf as a limited account to keep a virus from disabling Norton. I can see why; my brother uses MicroTrend and a virus disabled it and assigned a new password so he couldn't change it back; he had to reformat. I can run programs from administrator cmd (not very convientent) I guess I will stick with that
Thanks all

If you run a properly configured firewall, viruses and trojans cannot install applications without your approval.
