Purchased 4 of these drives in October of last year. One took a dump about a month ago. Had an oppurtunity to take it out of the computer today only to find out that the warranty expired back in March. Sheeesh, every drive I have owned before this had at least a 3 year warranty. Anyone know of any SATA drives that have a 3 year warranty off the top of your head?

Yea, and stay away from their Crystal Reports as well. Since I'm the only person on the planet that knows how to use it, I am considered a commodity god to companies that use it.

Alot of the manufacturers are moving to 1-year warranties.
But looking at newegg, seagates sata drives are mixed, some have 1-year and some have 3-year warranties.

Whew, good thing I bought their 7200.7 series. :P

No problems here.

As for companies that have 3 year warranties, WD is one of the few. Their Raptors have something like 3 or 5 years (I forget which), and their Special Editions are 1 year out of the box, but for about $19.99 more, you can get it extended to 3 years.

I wish Seagate would offer something like that.

I havent had any problems with my old Seagate Berracuda IV drive. Had it since I think 2001? Been a quiet drive. But got slower in the years.

Its a mix bag now. I have several Vs and they are 3 and 1yr warranties. So far so good. No problems yet.

nothing is wrong with them as far as I am concerend. Just seems that the majority hates it. Probably because it is a shelf product. I love using it, so I kinda have an edge on others. LMAO! Like there are "others".

Samsung offers 3 years on their drives.

Also, as per slashdot... seagate is going to start offering 5 years on their drives...
