this is the letter I sent Alex Van Kaam. We shall see what happens. Sad to see it go.
Long time since talking to ya (a month or two). I don't expect you to remember who I am
I don't have a tech question about MBM this time.
I was surprised and disappointed to see that you are stopping development on MBM. I see you have your reasons from what I have read.
I wanted to run some things by you if you don't mind.
I first learned about you calling it quits a few days back. I was in the field in Mexico doing some work. When I got back I was going to add MBM and the Visualization Plugin to a post I am maintaining for modder's under "SoftMods"
You can see the post here:http://www.maximumpc.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=308
The reason is that I do believe its one of the best combinations for Modder's wanting to get some functionality out of thier desktops. Here is an (somewhat geeky) example:http://img4.photobucket.com/albums/0803 ... ase/ds.jpghttp://img4.photobucket.com/albums/0803 ... sclose.jpg
So, is MBM still going to be available? Even without support?
Would you consider (or is it even possible) to write a final version of MBM (Maybe called "MBM, The Final Version") that could allow for more user configuration? I know that right now MBM will work with many unlisted mother boards provided the user can configure it. Is it possible to make a final version that will allow a user to use a tool like Everest to gather information and somehow allow the user to use that info to configure MBM? With the plugins becoming available to MBM I was really getting attached to it.
I realize that MB companies were of no help to you and frankly thats a shame. User's, like myself, didn't always contribute as much as we should have either. I contributed only one profile (maybe 2). I could have given you at least 3 or 4 over the years, and I should have. I also realize that after 7 years, you don't need an excuse.
I hope to see something new from you, MBM or not. I hope some type of MBM final version can be made (and hey, if you ever change your mind you could always do MBM - The Final Version - Reloaded). If users could add boards themselves to a final MBM version then the MBM Forum would be a great place to do it.
Whatever you do, Thanx for MBM. It is a piece of Computing History. I will use it as long as I can get it to work
take care Alex, if I don't hear from you I will just assume you are too busy - no worries
