Hey,

Just a quick question. I have an Asus A8n-Sli Deluxe, and i am going to be updating the BIOS. The latest Rev is 1004, and my current Rev is 1001. Do I have to update it with 1002, 1003, and THEN 1004, or just 1004? Will 1004 include all fixes from previous BIOS updates?

Ive never updated bios before, but this board is super finniky about what RAM it decides to accept, and im hoping this will help. Id appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks

1004 contains all the latest fixes so you don't need the in between versions.

You'll need to make a DOS boot floppy. I like to use a MS-Dos 6.22 boot floppy with no drivers (msdos.sys, io.sys, command.com... that is all), and put the .BIN file and awdflash.exe on it. You'll need to write down the name of the .BIN file as you'll need to type it during the flashing process.

Boot your PC, run awdflash.exe, and follow the instructions EXACTLY.

A desireable alternative to the above method is to use Asus' Liveupdate program. I've had great success time after time with various Asus mobos using that utility - it will download and update your BIOS all from within Windows. It's about as easy as it gets.

The utility can be found on their site right here - LINK

And as mentioned, go straight for the latest BIOS, incremental updates are not necessary.
