Oh, ok, then I agree with some of the others on the forum about upgrading your sound card to an Audigy, you won't be at all dissapointed.

as i didnt say, I am not worried about the sound too much and plan to do so. I also plan to get some raid action going.

wisest way to spend 80 dolars, well with that dell u mite wana spend it on 80 dolars worth of pills, but a more practical choice woulda been deh ram,

Just make sure the Firewire card doesn't have a VIA chipset on it, or else you'll be dealing with lots of dropped frames.

Look for a card with a Texas Instruments OHCI Firewire chipset and a molex power connector on the card (for 12v power).
