I have noticed SSD prices dropping significantly in the last month or so. This may or may not have something to do with eSATA speeds and the SATA III drives becoming more outdated . But it's a good thing. There are a number of 256 gb SSD's one can get ranging in price from just over $100 to $140, there is even a few 512 gb SSD's for under $200. Truth be told all digital storage devices seem to be going down in price. I just purchased a 64 gb micro SD card for about $30. This is a good thing, especially if it keeps up. Now only if the The Samsung 840 pro series drives would drop in prices....

The 840 Pro pricing should start dropping once the 850 Pro's hit shelves in large numbers (currently available at some locations in limited numbers), but don't expect to see EVO pricing on them anytime soon...

Honestly I wish I had $400 to spend like that.

But I'd probably blow it on a GTX 770.

having just purchased a gtx770, it barely outperforms my old gtx 570 classified, i would buy the 780 instead. I was so disappointed in its performance I looked into the trade up program at evga. to bad they only offered the basic 780 none of the better ones, so I passed.

That's weird considering http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/831?vs=829 says it should outperform it by 2.

seriously I cannot believe it, I bought it for folding more than anything, and the increase of over a thousand shaders from the 570 is worth about 3-5000ppd, under 50,000ppd for both. the 780 brings in around 150,000+ppd. the games I am playing are slightly better with the 770 but nothing to write home about.

Well the thing is the consumer version of Kepler wasn't built for computing purposes. It was optimized for gaming.

there is also something wrong with the drivers that nvidia has not fixed. the 322 drivers are better than newer, I am thinking of going back to them from the 337.88 I am using now.

the bench uses a vanilla gtx 570, the gtx570 ti classified is way faster but it is never available for a benchmark, and there is no 77ti, you would think it would perform better with a thousand more shaders, and more memory (although its 256 compared to the 384 of the 570) this is the 770 I bought http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2776-KR

Even so, the 570 classified never performed better than a 580, at least not without a custom liquid cooling loop & added overclocking... http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/767?vs=829 From your description, sounds like maybe you got a bum 770.. time for RMA ????

Interesting numbers... They don't have the 750 Ti listed that I am currently using though. I will be purchasing the 770 dual acx classified with 4gb for the build I am working on. Except for the extra ram the numbers on the two cards are basically the same (the base and boost clock are slightly higher), but I can't compare the differences on that Anandtech sight as they only have one card listed for the 770 series.
