I have Windows 7 Home and the most recent/updated Internet Explorer. Recently I got a hold of one of those fake "RegClean.Pro" malware packages, and it installed several other things - WSE Rocket, NetCrawl, some kind of StormCloudWeather bar, and more. I used (in safe mode after updates) Microsoft Security Essentials, ADWCleaner, JRT, MalwareBytes, HitmanPro, then double checked for manual uninstalls, browser settings, etc. Google Chrome seems to be fine, but Internet Explorer seems to be on lockdown. The browser search object in add-ons is the only thing remaining, but I can't deactivate/uninstall/delete it, and the virus scanners aren't picking anything else up. I'm afraid my computer still may not be 100% secure. Can you please help me figure out how to finish removing this malware/ensure my computer is safe to use? Should I use one of those log programs (like HijackThis, Farbar, OTL, or RegKill) and post a report?
Also, is MSE not enough nowadays? Should I have different/more anti-malware programs for my computer? If so, what do you suggest?
