you do not mention any specs for either memory, without knowing these specs nobody can compare which is better, price also makes a difference. provide a link to each, so someone can compare them and give an informed opinion.

Mr. Waters, I guess I should have searched the forum first, my bad. I edited the previous post with more detail. I'm ordering parts on-line and I posted this hastily. It's only a few dollars either way, I have always used Corsair, but this for my friend and I thought I would change it up a bit,

Thanks for your help :-)

The thing with RAM is that it's a standard. Two companies pushing out DDR3-1600 RAM with 9-9-9-21 timings will perform for all intents and purposes exactly the same. Therefore, there's no reason to get the more expensive RAM of the same spec. However the catch, you should get RAM from reputable vendors, even if they charge $20 more. It's like getting that crappy PSU that was $30 that blows up your computer than the nicer $50 one.

I agree, the ram is all the same spec wise. myself, I would get the best I could afford. but for someone else, save them a few bucks. spend the money saved on a better video card. one step up in a video card is something you can see. I have also used alot of Patriot memory which is about on par with corsair, and gskill. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820220685 same specs, same price as the gskill.
