I have zonealarm free version but I dislike their latest update. It forces me to select ZA as default browser search engine and set ZA for the homepage. If they require things like this, then I am more suspicious of what else they are doing.

So I am thinking of a replacement. How is the Windows firewall nowadays? How does Comodo firewall fare? What do you guys use?

Thanks

I never used a third party firewall since I felt like it was a pain. And I still don't use one. The closest thing I have to a firewall (because it blocks IPs from accessing the system) is the pro version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

I'm with LatiosXT. The Windows firewall since Vista is solid. I would only consider a 3rd party firewall (ZA or Comodo) in XP since it is inbound only, especially after 4-8...they will continue supporting XP.

The installer for ZoneAlarm's Free Firewall has been a little deceiving for a couple of updates now; when you get to the step where it mentions setting the homepage and default search engine to ZoneAlarm's setting there will be a blue clickable option near the bottom that says something to the effect of "skip all offers" and when you click on it you'll proceed to the next step without ZoneAlarm changing those settings.
